zhengZheng Yang is currently pursuing his PhD degree in Civil Engineering. Zheng Yang graduated from TianJin University, where he specialized on both Mechanical Engineering and Construction Engineering Management. During his studies, Zheng participated in several projects held by Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ministry of Railways, ENFI, YANG JIANG Nuclear Power and realized that the building construction industry is close to everyone’s daily life and needs to be improved and reformed. Now as a part of i-lab, Zheng pursues his dream for exploring future construction world and making the world better.

shuaiPedram Oskouie  is currently a PhD student in Civil Engineering with a concentration on Construction Engineering and Management. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Iran University of Science & Technology. During his undergraduate studies he accrued a substantial amount of knowledge in both academic and practical fields. Due to his profound interest in participating in research works, he joined various research groups and managed to submit three conference papers in his senior year. In addition, he worked as a project engineer for a general contractor for almost a year where he was involved in various project management practices for delivering a large size commercial building under design- build project delivery method. Pedram's current research work focuses on monitoring the highway retaining walls using 3D laser scanners.

arsalanArsalan Heydarian is currently a PhD student in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a concentration on Construction Engineering and Management. Arsalan earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Virginia Tech (2010 and 2012 respectively) where he garnished several awards including the Undergraduate Vecellio Scholarship, Virginia Tech 2010 Paul E. Torgersen Research Excellence Award, the 2010 top three best research poster award at Virginia Tech’s CEE department, and the top graduate CMAA student scholarship. During his graduate study at Virginia Tech, he was a teaching assistant for the Construction Engineering Management for two years. Arsalan’s Master’s thesis was focused on automated equipment action recognition for productivity analysis of construction operations. His current research focuses on integrating data extraction, visualization techniques, and user interactive environments.

shuaiAli Ghahramani joined USC Viterbi School of Engineering in Fall 2011 to pursue his M.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction Engineering and Management. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2011 from Shiraz University, Iran. During the last year of undergraduate studies, he interned as a project manager assistant for a large construction company where he worked on several projects, especially ones in large concrete residential complexes and subway tunnel design and construction. Throughout his internship, he realized the necessity of optimizing construction processes and minimizing wastes in the Iran’s construction industry. He also always got new questions about various construction methods. Now as a part of i-lab, he has the opportunity to investigate more on his questions and other civil engineering issues

shuai Simin Ahmadi Karvigh has earned her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from University of Tehran in Spring 2010 and started her Master’s degree in Structures in the same university in Fall 2010. During these years, she worked in Tehran-Sahab consulting company, which is one of the most famous companies in infrastructural projects. In Spring 2012, she joined USC Viterbi School of Engineering to pursue her second Master’s degree in Construction Engineering and Management. Beside her research works at USC, she is working in USC Facilities Management, as an engineer who has both Structural and Construction Management knowledge in her work.

kasheGokce Ozcelik joined USC Viterbi School of Engineering in Fall 2014 to pursue her PhD degree at the department of Civil Engineering. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, 2014. During her undergraduate studies, she was involved in different research projects with her professors, published some papers. In addition to her academic interests, she worked as an intern for 2 months at a well-known contractor construction company in Turkey.

kasheMeida Chen joined USC Viterbi School of Engineering in Fall 2012 to pursue his M.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction and Management. kasheJoao Pedro Carneiro earned his Bachelor’s from Universidade de Amazonia (UNAMA) back on Brazil. He is currently working with Immersive Virtual Environment on understanding the Human-Building interactions and developing virtual alternative designs. As part of his research and studies, Joao is trying to investigate new ways to improve the design process by involving the human behavior and responses early on during the design phase. He is currently working with Arsalan Heydarian to investigate such research areas.

kasheEyüphan Koç is a first year Viterbi fellow pursuing a PhD degree in Civil Engineering. He studied at Bogazici University in Istanbul where he majored in Civil Engineering, minored in Industrial Engineering and won medals with university’s european handball team, the Bears. He graduated in June ’15 and was selected the most successful sportsman among Bogazici graduates. During his undergraduate studies, he gained experience as a TA and participated in a research project regarding computer vision applications in structural health monitoring. Eyuphan is advised by Dr. Lucio Soibelman and currently looking into different domains to find a direction in research. He is also running the i-Lab social events as the co-chair.

kasheAshrant Aryal joined USC Viterbi School of Engineering in Fall 2015 to pursue his PhD degree at the department of Civil Engineering. He is currently exploring new applications of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in the construction industry.

kasheKanu Dutta completed his MS degree in Green Technologies from USC and his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, India. Prior to pursuing graduate studies at USC, he worked in a hydro electric power project in a remote area in India, near India-China border, where he was involved in feasibility studies, and design of the project. He believes that energy conservation, energy efficiency and optimal resource usage is more important than building new power plant capacities, and a crucial step towards sustainability.

kasheXinran Yu has earned her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and Construction management from Hainan University in China, and then joined USC Viterbi School of Engineering in Fall 2014 to pursue her M.Sc. Degree in Construction Engineering and Management. After participating an experiment held by I-lab, she found her interest in human building project. And she is currently working with Ali Ghahramani to investigate and learn in such research areas.

kasheKenan Zhang joined i-Lab in this summer as a visiting research assistant. She is currently pursuing her M.Sc. Degree in Architecture with focus on Architecture-Engineering-Construction Management at Carnegie Mellon University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2014 from Tsinghua University. She is involved in research projects under mentor Dr. Burcin Becerik-Gerber and PhD student Ali Ghahramani, and hope her work could contribute to the improvement of built environment and life quality.

kasheGuillermo Castro is involved on the Human-Building Interaction developing the iGlass to investigate new ways to reduce the consumption of energy since last summer.He is currently an undergraduate student of Civil Engineering and Land Surveying at the East Los Angeles College where he earns the certificate of land surveying and computer aided design. He is the the president of Elac Surveying CLSA student chapter. He belongs to California Land Surveying Association (CLSA) and Professional of Hispanic Engineers(SHPE). Besides, he also works as a Mathematics and Physics tutor for High Schools Students.In addition, he will work at i-Lab full time this summer 2015 and he is interesting in joining USC Viterbi School of engineering next year.

kasheNick Halsey joined USC Viterbi School of Engineering in Fall 2012 to pursue his BS in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Building Science. He creates open source software and contributes to the WordPress project, and is the Resident Composer of the Boulder Cello Project. At USC, he is a member of the executive board and the concrete canoe team at the USC Student Chapter of ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers).

kasheLucy Egbe joined USC Viterbi School of Engineering in Fall 2012 and is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Building Science. She is heavily involved in USC’s chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (USC ASCE) as a Concrete Canoe Team member, Surveying Team captain and Vice President of the organization. As a mentor for Viterbi’s Center for Engineering Diversity she helps incoming minority engineering freshmen navigate their first year of university.

Christina is currently involved at USC with the ASCE Concrete Canoe design team, the Society of Women Engineers, Break Through Hip Hop dance team, and BEATS Academy Tutoring.
