Farrokh Jazizadeh joined USC Viterbi School of Engineering in Fall 2009 to pursue his PhD degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction Engineering and Management. He earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Isfahan University of Technology, Iran, 2002 and his master's degree in Civil Engineering-Hydraulic Structures from Amirkabir University of Technology, Iran, 2004. He has diverse experience as an infrastructural consultant since 2002. His research is now focused on application of machine learning techniques for energy efficiency improvement in buildings.

Nan Li has started his graduate studies at USC towards his PhD degree in civil engineering since fall 2009. He earned his bachelor's degree in construction management in Tsinghua University, China. After that, having realized that the expertise in construction management was in great need in China's huge but primitive construction industry, he decided to be part of the effort to change the situation by pursuing further studies in the US. He is now working on the application of RFID and WSN technologies in indoor location sensing in built environments.

Geoffrey Leyian Kavulya joined the USC Viterbi School of Engineering in the fall 2010 to pursue his PhD degree in Civil Engineering with a special focus on Construction Engineering and Management. Originally from Kenya, Geoffrey earned his B.Arch. degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Nairobi, Kenya in 2002 and the graduated with Architecture (Masters) from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA in 2006. He has worked for RATIO Architects, Inc in Indianapolis, Indiana from 2006 to Aug 2010. As an architect and a LEED AP, his responsibilities involved design, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Project Administration and LEED instructor. As as Sustainable Design Advocate, he is a member of mayor's Green CCB team (city of Indianapolis).

Shuai Li is currently pursuing his PhD degree at USC's Viterbi School of Engineering. Shuai comes from Beijing, China where he lived a life as an undergraduate student, swimming captain and local gourmet. In his spare time, Shuai likes cooking, reading, writing and traveling around the world! When he was studying in Tsinghua University, he was trained as a diver under supervision of Fen Yu, the former head coach in Chinese national diving team. Shuai has witnessed the dramatic change and speeding development in China. Last summer, Shuai interned with the contractor who built the Olympic stadium in Beijing. He once also worked at Jones Lang LaSalle, the leading real estate consulting company in the world. Now, at USC, he has started a new page of life working as a scholar majoring in Civil Engineering.

Zheng Yang is currently pursuing his PhD degree at USC's Viterbi School of Engineering. Zheng Yang graduated from TianJin University, where he specialized on both Mechanical Engineering and Construction Engineering Management. During his studies, Zheng participated in several projects held by Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ministry of Railways, ENFI, YANG JIANG Nuclear Power etc., and realized that the building construction industry is close to everyone’s daily life and needs to be improved and reformed. Now as a part of i-lab, Zheng will pursue his dream for exploring future construction world and making the world better.

Pedram Oskouie is currently a Master’s student majoring in Construction Engineering and Management. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Iran University of Science & Technology. During his undergraduate studies he accrued a substantial amount of knowledge in both academic and practical fields. Due to his profound interest in participating in research works, he joined graduate students’ research groups and managed to submit three conference papers in his senior year. Consequently, he was recognized as one of the youngest scholars in the civil engineering department. In addition, he worked as a project engineer for a general contractor for almost a year where he was involved in various project management practices for delivering a large size commercial building under design- build project delivery method.

Simin Ahmadi Karvigh has earned her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from University of Tehran in Spring 2010 and started her Master’s degree in Structures in the same university in Fall 2010. During these years, she worked in Tehran-Sahab consulting company, which is one of the most famous companies in infrastructural projects. In Spring 2012, she joined USC Viterbi School of Engineering to pursue her second Master’s degree in Construction Engineering and Management. Beside her research works at USC, she is working in USC Facilities Management, as an engineer who has both Structural and Construction Management knowledge in her work.

Ali Ghahramani joined USC Viterbi School of Engineering in Fall 2011 to pursue his M.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction Engineering and Management. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2011 from Shiraz University, Iran. During the last year of undergraduate studies, he interned as a project manager assistant for a large construction company where he worked on several projects, especially ones in large concrete residential complexes and subway tunnel design and construction. Throughout his internship, he realized the necessity of optimizing construction processes and minimizing wastes in the Iran’s construction industry. He also always got new questions about various construction methods. Now as a part of i-lab, he has the opportunity to investigate more on his questions and other civil engineering issues

Throughout his undergraduate period, he worked in Oil Industries' Engineering and Construction Company (OIEC). Also, he participated in the construction project of biggest park in Middle-East . Working in the real world brought him to the point that management is the most important issue of today's Construction Field. He joined USC Viterbi School of Engineering to pursue his Master degree in Civil Engineering with focus on Construction Engineering and Management in Fall 2011.
